Calling all current and future runners and walkers!!
It’s time for the 2009 Best of the Boardrooms 5K Run/ Walk…
This year we are adding the VIRTUAL run.
Set Goals. Run. Have Fun!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

  1. There is no rule saying you have to run the whole distance!! You can mix it with run/walk intervals, or walk the entire distance, whichever you desire!  The idea is to just go the distance, either on your own or with your corporation.
  2. Get your health and wellness team together or come up with a “corporate champion”(someone who can direct and motivate others to join and get thing rolling) to decide the date, time and place everyone will meet to plot out a 5k in your local park, neighborhood, or trail using a site like TrainingPeaks.com --Routes feature
  3. The 5K can be run and posted between the dates specified in the guidelines.
  4. The team with more than 20 participants and best average time WINS!!
ENTRY FEE: $35 per entry

AWARDS: Best of the Boardrooms Award for highest number of participants. And, each participant from your company equates to one point toward a Healthiest Executive Nominee, of your choice. Choose where you want your point to go!

LEARN TO RUN:
It's an 8 week course. You should do it at least 3x a week so you're ready for the next week, & don't forget to stretch before & after.  (I actually really like 4x a week & it really prepares me for the next week's numbers)

Go to https://www.trainingpeaks.com/routesearch/ and get a route for a 3.1 mile or 5 km course and then run/walk for the minutes it says below until you reach 3.1 miles or 5 km.

Week 1 - Walk 3 mins, Run 1 min
Week 2 - Walk 3 mins, Run 2 mins
Week 3 - Walk 2 mins, Run 3 mins
Week 4 - Walk 2 mins, Run 5 mins
Week 5 - Walk 2 mins, Run 7 mins
Week 6 - Walk 2 mins, Run10 mins
Week 7 - Walk 1 min, Run 14 mins
Week 8 - Walk 30 seconds, Run 18 mins

For week 8, if you find that you don't HAVE to stop running after the 18 minutes, then by all means, carry on without the walking break.
