What is a Virtual 5k run?

A ‘Virtual 5K’ gives runners, walkers, wheelchair rollers, and 5k enthusiasts like you, a chance to participate in a 5k event no matter where you are located.

Meaning, you do not have to be at the physical 5k location to participate in the event! COOL!

To be a ‘Virtual 5k’ participant, runners visit www.trainingpeaks.com (routes link), or any other mapping site they are comfortable with to find a running route or choose a sponsored 5k event that is in your area. During a designated time period complete your run and post your time by Race Day. Results are commingled and posted with the Best of the Boardrooms 5k results. The Virtual 5K is a convenient way to be active and involved.

Steps to Participating in a Virtual Race

Step 1: Recruit Your Pals
Participate in the race alone or get your friends, family, neighborhood kids, your kids, and co-workers together to join you! Send invitations to have others participate with you for the virtual event. If you are running to support a Healthiest Executive Nominee, please indicate the nominee’s name during your registration process. Points are awarded to the nominees based on number of participants from their company, or association.

Step 2: Map Out Your Own Route
Visit www.trainingpeaks.com (Routes link), or any other mapping site you are comfortable with to find a running route or find a sponsored 5k in your area. After you map out your planned course, you can share the map with friends and copy the link into your registration form.

Step 3: Set your own Race Date!
Virtual participants must complete their run between 12:01am MNT on August 1st and 11:59pm MNT on October 14, 2009 to have their results officially counted. If your organization is participating you might decide on particular week or day and time.  It's up to you!  Make it FUN!

Step 4: Run your Race & Upload Results!
Upload your race results between 12:01am MNT on August 1st and 11:59pm MNT on October 14, 2009. Virtual Event Registrants - Upload your results now!
(link will be available after July 31, 2009).

Step 5: View your Results!
Visit the Healthiest Executive website after the results are posted to view how your results compared to all the other finishers -- AND your organization's results will be averaged across participants and reported back!

Step 6: Official Event Schwag!
Healthiest Executive will send all Virtual Best of the Boardrooms 5k participants official schwag associated with the event.  You may opt to donate the cost of mailing your gift to Go Healthy Pals!
